Attendance

WELCOME TO ATTENDANCE:  

ABSENCES: When a student is absent, it is very important that the absence be cleared by a parent or guardian as soon as possible. You may call during the day, or any time after hours, and leave a message. The phone number for the Attendance Office is 661-259-1551, extension 3. Absences must be cleared by a parent or guardian only. When leaving a message, please include the student’s name, spell the last name, first name, the date of absence, and the reason for absence.

STUDENTS ARRIVING LATE TO SCHOOL: When a student will be arriving late to school, a parent or guardian should notify the attendance office by calling or sending a note with their student. A parent does not have to accompany the student into the office if they have already alerted attendance that the student will be arriving late. A student who is more than thirty minutes late, without an excuse from a parent, is considered truant and will be referred to an administrator.

STUDENTS LEAVING EARLY FROM SCHOOL: If a student needs to leave early during the school day, they can bring a note that morning to the attendance office, or they can be summoned from class when a parent arrives. Please note we can not summon the student during their lunch (12:14-12:49), as we have no way of communicating with the student. Students may only be picked up by a parent or guardian. If they are being picked up by someone other than the parent or guardian, we must have something in writing from a parent or guardian, granting us permission to release the student to that person. Students will not be released between 2:25 PM and 2:35 PM unless it is an emergency.

INDEPENDENT STUDY: When a student will be absent for 5 or more school days, it is recommended that they participate in our Independent Study program. This allows them to receive their make-up work before they leave so they can stay current on their assignments. A teacher is assigned to collect the work for the student prior to their absence. It is important to provide as much notice as possible so that teachers have time to compile the necessary assignments. To arrange for a student to be on Independent Study, please call the attendance office as soon as you are aware of the upcoming absence.

AUSENCIAS: Cuando un estudiante está ausente, es muy importante que un padre o tutor aclare la ausencia lo antes posible. Puede llamar durante el día o en cualquier momento fuera del horario de atención y dejar un mensaje. El número de teléfono de la Oficina de Asistencia es 661-259-1551, extensión 3. Las ausencias deben ser autorizadas únicamente por un padre o tutor. Al dejar un mensaje, incluya el nombre del estudiante, deletree el apellido, el primer nombre, la fecha de la ausencia y el motivo de la ausencia.

ESTUDIANTES QUE LLEGAN TARDE A LA ESCUELA: Cuando un estudiante llega tarde a la escuela, un padre o tutor debe notificar a la oficina de asistencia llamando o enviando una nota con su estudiante. Los padres no tienen que acompañar al estudiante a la oficina si ya han avisado a la asistencia que el estudiante llegará tarde. Un estudiante que llega más de treinta minutos tarde, sin una excusa de los padres, se considera ausente y será remitido a un administrador.

ESTUDIANTES QUE SALEN TEMPRANO DE LA ESCUELA: Si un estudiante necesita salir temprano durante el día escolar, puede traer una nota esa mañana a la oficina de asistencia, o se le puede citar de clase cuando llegue uno de los padres. Tenga en cuenta que no podemos citar al estudiante durante su almuerzo (12:14-12:49), ya que no tenemos forma de comunicarnos con el estudiante. Los estudiantes sólo pueden ser recogidos por un padre o tutor. Si alguien que no sea el padre o tutor lo recoge, debemos tener algo por escrito del padre o tutor que nos otorgue permiso para entregarle al estudiante a esa persona. Los estudiantes no saldrán entre las 2:25 p.m. y las 2:35 p.m. a menos que sea una emergencia.

ESTUDIO INDEPENDIENTE: Cuando un estudiante estará ausente por 5 o más días escolares, se recomienda que participe en nuestro programa de Estudio Independiente. Esto les permite recibir su trabajo de recuperación antes de partir para que puedan mantenerse al día con sus tareas. Se asigna un maestro para recoger el trabajo del estudiante antes de su ausencia. Es importante avisar con la mayor antelación posible para que los profesores tengan tiempo de compilar las tareas necesarias. Para hacer arreglos para que un estudiante esté en Estudio Independiente, llame a la oficina de asistencia tan pronto como tenga conocimiento de la próxima ausencia.
