Attendance

WELCOME TO ATTENDANCE

We’re here to support your student’s success, and regular attendance plays a key role in that. Below is important information to help guide you through our attendance procedures.

Reporting an Absence

If your student will be absent, please notify the school on the day of the absence. Absences can only be cleared by a parent or legal guardian.

You may report an absence in one of the following four ways:

  1. Email the Attendance Office

  2. Call or leave a voicemail at (661) 259-1551 ext. 2003

    • Please include:

      • Student’s full name (spell the last name)

      • Date(s) of absence

      • Reason for the absence

  3. Send a message via ParentSquare

  4. Send a handwritten or typed note (with your full name and signature)

    • Your student can bring this to the Attendance Office when they return.

Email Confirmations

Please note: We are unable to confirm receipt of emails, voicemails, or ParentSquare messages. To verify attendance status, log into your Infinite Campus Parent Portal for help.

Attendance Errors

If you believe an absence was marked in error, please contact your student’s teacher directly. The teacher will notify the Attendance Office if a correction is needed. We require teacher confirmation before any changes can be made.

Excessive Absences

Per District policy:

  • After 14 or more excused absences, further absences due to illness may require a doctor’s note.

  • If your student has ongoing health issues or you need support services, please contact their counselor.

Tardies

If your student will arrive late:

  • Please call the Attendance Office or send a signed note with your student.

  • You do not need to come in with your student if you’ve notified us in advance.

  • If a student is more than 30 minutes late without an excuse, they will be marked truant, and a notification will be sent via ParentSquare. (Per Ed Code section 48260)

Leaving School Early

Students needing to leave early may:

  • Bring a note to the Attendance Office that morning, or

  • Be called out of class when a parent/guardian arrives (please allow 5–10 minutes).

Important Notes:

  • No early dismissals during lunch (12:14–12:49 PM), as we cannot reach students at that time.

  • Only parents or legal guardians may sign a student out.

  • If someone else is picking up your student, we must have written permission from you ahead of time.

  • Photo ID is required to sign out any student during school hours.

  • Emergency Contacts listed in your student’s profile are for actual emergencies only (e.g., fire, earthquake).

We kindly ask that no students be signed out between 2:25 PM and 2:35 PM, unless it is an emergency.

Independent Study (3+ Days Absent)

If your student will be absent for three or more consecutive school days, we recommend arranging for Independent Study.

  • This allows your student to complete assignments while away and stay current.

  • A teacher will gather the work ahead of time.

  • Please contact the Attendance Office as early as possible to allow time for preparation.
